Raise the Age Campaign
IPOA supports the Raise the Age campaign, a nationwide call to action for policymakers, advocating to raise the age of criminal responsibility to meet minimum standards set by the United Nations to age 14 years and increase access to education, job training.
IPOA supports implementation of community-led alternatives to prevent harm to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth and children.

Climate Projects
IPOA has begun collaborating with communities on place-based climate response initiatives in locations such as Boigu Island and Badu Island in the Torres Strait, Arawerr Soapy Bore, Wilcannia, and Tonga.
Academics who took part in the Indigenous Decision Making Workshop and attended community consultations are currently focused on creating business cases for five Indigenous communities from Australia and the Pacific. This effort aims to assist in advocacy and secure funding for implementing local, place-based climate solutions.

First Nations participation in UN
IPOA believes that Indigenous voices need to be front and centre to better address the profound issues our communities are facing including climate change and land rights, health disparities, and social injustices, which are all interconnected.
It is through lived experiences that we can develop comprehensive strategies that are respectful, just, and inclusive. Moreover, empowering Indigenous leaders to share their stories fosters a deeper understanding among policymakers, advocates, and the global community of the challenges and resilience of Indigenous peoples.
These dialogues need to be delivered by and from Aboriginal people who are living in these communities where climate change is having the greatest impacts.
Treaty talks and Justice through Treaty March
We have successfully executed several campaigns including Treaty Talks and Treaty March for Justice that attracted national media including two interviews on ABC Radio National.
The workshop involved more than 100 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants from across Australia and 21 speakers including Federal MP Linda Burney, Jilian Triggs, President of the Human Rights Commission and Jackie Huggins and Rod Liddle, National Congress of Australia’s First Nations People.
This collaborative approach created a united front for advocacy efforts for Treaty and demonstrates IPOA’s capacity to mobilise support while ensuring that our strategies are inclusive and representative of the diverse voices within our community..
